ARE SANDALS RESORTS COUPLES ONLY

Are Sandals Resorts Couples Only

Being that Sandals Resorts offer an adults only experience, we often get asked if they also have a “Couples-Only” policy. The answer is no, Sandals Resorts is for both individuals and couples alike! While the resort is geared toward romantic escapes, non-couples like friends, singles, and family are all welcome.

Most Common Non-Couples Groups At Sandals

Although Sandals Resorts are designed for couples in love, we frequently make bookings for non-couples that want to go to Sandals for a variety of reasons.  Here are the most common:

  • Destination Wedding Guests
  • Birthday With Friends
  • Bachelorette or Bachelor Parties
  • Individuals Looking To Relax
  • Corporate Incentive Groups
  • Family Trips Where Everyone Is Over 18

Are Sandals Resorts Good For Singles

Sandals used to be somewhat strict on their “2 person per booking” rule, but they have been shifting away from that over the last several years.  Now it is perfectly fine for singles, friends, and family to enjoy the Sandals luxury experience.  There are indeed some benefits to staying at a Sandals as a non-couple.

  • No Kids: First and foremost, there are no kids allowed. This means you can enjoy some well deserved rest and relaxation in an adults only environment!
  • Massages And Spa Treatments: You can get individual massages, not just couples massages. The Red Lane Spa at all Sandals locations is a full service spa.  That means you can also get facials, manicures, body scrubs, and much more.
  • Luxurious Amenities: Whether you’re a couple or not, who doesn’t love 5 star accommodations. Sandals is known for their premium amenities, butler service, and world class dining.
  • All Inclusive: Nobody includes more than Sandals! Food, entertainment, activities, water sports, scuba diving, and airport transfers are all included.  When comparing Sandals to any all-inclusive resort, adults only or not, they include more than anyone.
  • No Unwanted Attention: For those looking for a low-key vacation where you don’t have to worry about any unwanted attention, Sandals is the ideal destination.  Since it’s primarily geared toward adult couples, you will not have to worry about getting approached by strangers trying to hit on you.  Just sit back and relax at your own pace.

What's The Downside To Sandals As A Non-Couple

There’s plenty to love about Sandals Resorts, but because they are designed for couples, there are a couple of downsides to getting your own room as an individual.

The biggest drawback is that there is no single occupancy pricing for rooms.  Said another way, Sandals pricing is based on “per person, per night” for two people. So if a particular room is $400 per night, which includes accommodations for two people, that is the same price you will pay for only one person as well. Note that there are also a lot of ways to get better prices, like the weekly 777 deal

Secondly, a lot of the activities are catered towards couples. For example, couples massages or romantic sunset catamaran cruises are very romantic, but you don’t have to do those if you don’t want to!  There are plenty of options for single guests to enjoy all of the activities that Sandals has to offer.

Additionally, all rooms will only have an extra large king bed. There are no rooms at Sandals that will have multiple beds. That said, here are a few options for rooms if you’re going with multiple people who are not couples. You can sleep with your friend in the spacious king sized bed, or get two rooms next to each other.  If you are booking with a Sandals Certified Agent, we can make sure you are in the same room category so your rooms are as close together as possible!  Lastly, there are a limited number of rollaway beds, but I would advise to check in advance as they may not have availability all the time.

What About Wedding Guests

Having a destination wedding in the Caribbean is a dream come true. The wedding team at Sandals will ensure all of the details are absolutely perfect. But what if there are guests invited to your wedding that are not a couple, can they still attend?

The answer is YES, it is okay for guests of a destination wedding at Sandals to stay as an individual rather than a couple. The other alternative is for two individual guests to share a room.  Note that all of the rooms at Sandals will be fitted with one king bed, so if you plan on sharing a room with someone else, make sure you are comfortable sleeping in the same bed with each other!

The other added bonus for a lot of wedding guests is the group discount pricing.  If you have 5 or more rooms, whether it is for couples or not, you will get the 6th room free (and so on for every 5th room that is booked). This can be a great way for all guests to enjoy additional discount pricing.

Best Sandals Resorts If You're Not A Couple

Here is my top list of Sandals Resorts for those considering a stay here as a non-couple. That said, the nice thing about Sandals Resorts is there are 17 different locations across the Caribbean, each with a variety of price points and features so there’s something for everyone!

Sandals Ochi

Sandals Ochi Resort For Non Couples

Sandals Ochi is generally the cheapest location for individuals to stay at. There are fantastic options for groups or solo-travelers alike. The newly created Butler Villa features four separate one-bedrooms suites with a private pool sanctuary.  This is specifically designed for groups, offering privacy but with plenty of space to hang out together. For individuals, you can find deals all year round depending on your price point, but it is common to find a nice Luxury Level room for under $400 per night total – and that still includes all of the 5 star service that Sandals is known for.  The Ochi Beach Club also has great live music and a swim up bar that I really enjoyed.

Sandals Grande St. Lucian

Sandals Grande Saint Lucian Resort For Non Couples

If you’re a single person looking for a more social vibe, the Grande St. Lucian is the place to be.  Not only is the property itself vibrant with plenty to do, but you also get full access to the other 2 Sandals properties in St. Lucia as well.  The pool area always has lively music or a DJ. I like to go to the Friday night street parties in Gros Islet, just 10 minutes from the resort.  It’s free and a great way to experience the local culture!  A close second for nightlife would be the Royal Bahamian, which is located in Nassau, Bahamas.

Sandals Saint Vincent

Sandals St. Vincent is the newest Sandals, just completed earlier this year. You need to check this place out for the ultimate in luxury experiences. Is it the cheapest? No. But will the accommodations and restaurants knock your socks off? Yes. Surrounded by a private cove beach in the tropical foot hills, this is one of the best spots for singles to relax on a much needed vacation. The Beachfront Two Bedroom Villas are perfect for small groups or friends looking to stay together. Each bedroom has a private bathroom and separate living area, and comes with butler service.

Sandals Grande Antigua

Sandals Grande Antigua Resort For Non Couples

If you want an absolutely stunning beach, St. John’s Antigua fits the bill. This resort is more laid back and has a more mature vibe overall. It is ideal for single folks that want maximum tranquility in a serene tropical setting. Don’t get me wrong, there is still plenty to do between the water sports, 11 restaurants, and 7 bars (including the swim up bar), and tennis courts!

Best Alternative For Families And Single Guests

Sandals Resorts has a sister brand called Beaches Resorts that still offers all the 5-star amenities Sandals is known for, but Beaches caters for families with children and single guests. Beaches has accommodation options with multiple bedrooms and multiple rooms, making it ideal for non-couples. There are three locations across the Caribbean, Turks and Caicos, Negril Jamaica, and Ocho Rios Jamaica. I highly recommend checking this out if you need a more family oriented option.
