Let me start with a quick confession that Saint Lucia is my favorite of all the Caribbean islands. The tropical green foliage starts at the coast line and goes all the way up to the mountain tops.
And the Piton Mountains are truly a sight to behold. Photos really just don’t do them justice. Cruising right up to them on the catamaran or going for a swim around the mountains is an experience I won’t soon forget!
After having visited all three Sandals Resorts in St. Lucia (Sandals Grande St. Lucian, Regency La Toc, and Halcyon Beach), I’ll compare and contrast which ones are best for your next romantic getaway.
Each of the St. Lucia Sandals Resorts are adults only, and offer all-inclusive food, drinks, scuba diving, golf, and plenty more. But each has a slightly different vibe.
The good news is regardless of which Sandals you stay at, you’ll get full access to all three locations thanks to the exchange program they have. This is like getting three vacations in one!

Stay at One, Play at Three In Saint Lucia
All three Sandals in Saint Lucia share everything, in both directions. Book any one of them and you can use the restaurants, bars, pools and beaches at the other two, for 28 restaurants in total. They sit close together at the north end of the island, about an hour from the airport.
Halcyon Beach sits in the middle, so it is the easiest base if you plan to use all three. Traffic through Castries can stretch the La Toc legs at rush hour.
That makes choosing simpler than it looks. Pick the resort for the room and the beach you want to wake up to, and treat the other two as places to go for dinner or a change of scene.

1. Sandals Grande St. Lucian

Consistently rated one of the world’s most romantic resorts, we were stunned not only by St. Lucia itself, but also by the natural beauty of the resort. This was our third time here and it always seems to pull you back! It’s definitely our favorite Sandals in St. Lucia.
Positioned on a secluded peninsula, Sandals Grande St. Lucian offers an island experience unlike anything found in the Caribbean. From the moment you enter the lobby you’re greeted with a panoramic view of the ocean and lush mountains waiting for you!
With the famous Rodney Bay on one side and awe-inspiring volcanic twin mountains on the other, the resort is a true tropical oasis. You can walk up to Pigeon Island to see the old fort ruins and amazing views in just a few minutes.
Why we love Sandals Grande St. Lucian
- A mile of sand with no rocks. Rare in Saint Lucia, and the snorkeling straight off the beach is the best I have found at any Sandals.
- The island’s only overwater bungalows. Glass floor panels, a soaking tub and butler service, plus Rondoval villas and swim-up suites on land. See my video tour.
- The Friday street party in Gros-Islet. A real local event a few minutes from the resort, and the single best night of my trip.
Key things to consider
- The longest transfer of the three. Hewanorra (UVF) is at the far south end of the island, an hour and fifteen minutes away on winding mountain roads.
- The liveliest of the three. If you want quiet, Halcyon Beach is the better option.
- The most expensive of the three. It runs about $100 per person per night more than La Toc or Halcyon Beach.
Take the boat transfer from the airport. It takes about as long as the van, and you get drinks on deck and the coastline instead of the mountain switchbacks. If you want to go big, helicopter transfers are available too.
2. Sandals Regency La Toc
Great Value
La Toc is the big estate: 220 acres of hillside just south of Castries, running from a half-mile crescent beach up to suites on the bluff.
It is the closest Sandals to Hewanorra, an hour away, and it is tied with Halcyon Beach for the lowest price in Saint Lucia. With the other two resorts included, it is the best value on the island.
Why we love Sandals Regency La Toc
- The Sunset Bluff. My favorite part of the resort. Even if you are not staying up there, the pool and Armando’s restaurant are the best place on the property to watch the sunset.
- The Rondoval Village. Finished in 2025, and the Rondoval Butler Sky Villas have rooftop terraces.
- The Oceanview Bluff Millionaire Villas. Two stories, a private pool, a butler and the sunset straight out in front. One of my favorite suites at any Sandals.
Key things to consider
- Spread across 220 acres. Steep hills and real distance between the beach, the bluff and the restaurants. Resort shuttles help, but expect to walk.
- A smaller beach. Pretty, but noticeably smaller than Grande St. Lucian’s mile of sand. If the beach is your priority, you will feel it.
Stay close to the main pool if you want to avoid steep climbs. The Butler Suites on the Bluff side of the resort are amazing, but it is a seriously steep climb from main area around the beach.
3. Sandals Halcyon Beach
Overwater Restaurant
Halcyon is the small, quiet one: 169 rooms in low-rise buildings among the gardens on Choc Bay, with a French-Caribbean look of white shutters and exposed stone.
It sits between the other two resorts, so it is also the easiest base if you plan to use all three.
Why we love Sandals Halcyon Beach
- Kelly’s Dockside. It sits out over the water and served the best seafood I ate across the three Saint Lucia resorts. Book early, because it fills up.
- The Crystal Lagoon. It winds through most of the resort, and it is the longest pool I have swum at any Sandals.
- Water skiing and wakeboarding. Included, along with the scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking and paddleboarding.
Key things to consider
- Could feel small for a week. Six restaurants and a quiet scene, so plan to use the other two resorts and book an excursion or two.
- Fewer top-tier rooms. There are no overwater bungalows or Rondoval villas, and the butler categories sell out first. Book early if that is what you want.
Take the catamaran down to the Pitons, with a snorkel stop at Marigot Bay and a creole lunch. Seeing them from the water is the highlight of the island.
Traveling to St. Lucia
- Airports. Almost everyone flies into Hewanorra (UVF) at the south end of the island, an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes from the resorts. Nonstops include American from Miami and JetBlue from New York (JFK) daily. Transfers are included, and helicopter transfers are available at extra cost. George F. L. Charles (SLU) in Castries is much closer but has limited service.
- Arrival form. Complete Saint Lucia’s online immigration and customs form no more than 72 hours before you arrive, and keep the receipt for customs. You need one per family or group.
- Passports. US citizens do not need a visa for leisure trips under 90 days. Bring a passport that does not expire for at least six months past your stay.
- Money. The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, but US dollars and cards work almost everywhere.
- Leaving. Plan to be at the airport three hours before your flight. Sandals times your transfer to match, and there is a Sandals lounge at Hewanorra for the wait.
