Sandals Family Resorts? Are Kids Allowed?
All 17 Sandals resorts are adults-only, 18 and over. The  brand was built around couples, and it commits to it completely: quiet beaches, dinner for two at nine, a pool where nobody is doing cannonballs off the swim-up bar. Plenty of parents book Sandals precisely for the one trip a year the kids stay home.
So if you are traveling with children, you are not being turned away so much as pointed somewhere better! The same company runs a family brand called Beaches Resorts. Same ownership, same all-inclusive model, same corner of the Caribbean, with a complete focus on kids. When people go looking for a Sandals family resort, Beaches is the answer!

Beaches is the Sandals family resort brand
It is run by the same company, on the same all-inclusive philosophy, and many of the things that make Sandals one of the top Caribbean resort brands are at Beaches too.
Every meal and every drink is covered, at every restaurant and bar on property, with no dining plan to choose and no upgrade tier that unlocks the good restaurants. Gratuities are genuinely included, so you are not doing mental math over breakfast or keeping small bills in your pocket.
Land and water sports come with the room: kayaks, paddleboards, snorkeling gear, tennis. Scuba diving is included at both brands, tanks and boat and guide, which is close to unheard of in the all-inclusive world and is worth real money if anyone in your family is certified. Both have Red Lane Spa on property, both do nightly entertainment, and both offer butler service in the top suite categories. They even share a loyalty program – the Island Insiders Club – Â so nights you bank at one count at the other.
Beaches is built for all inclusive family vacations
Beaches is designed from the ground up for a group of four to twelve with kids. That shows up as loads of bunk beds and connecting rooms as well as multi-bedroom suites, restaurants that will serve your family at six, pools zoned so the splash area is nowhere near the quiet one, a water park, and a staff of counselors whose entire job is keeping your seven-year-old busy while you read something on a lounger.
Same operator, same standards, same “you already paid for it” feeling. Different guest in mind.
Beaches Turks & Caicos
This is the flagship, and it really shows. Roughly 850 rooms across five villages on Grace Bay, which is consistently rated one of the best beaches in the world. And it’s perfect for kids – the water is shallow, clear, and unusually calm. You can let your kids wade out and not spend the afternoon with your heart in your throat 🙂.
Why we love it
Pirates Island Waterpark is the headline and the reason most families pick this property over Negril. Multiple slides, a lazy river, a surf simulator, and separate zones so your toddler is not competing with a pack of eleven-year-olds. Sesame Street characters do daily meet-and-greets, a character breakfast, and a stage show, which the two to eight year old crowd LOVES and is genuinely a bigger deal to them than the beach.
There are 23 restaurants across the villages, so a seven-night stay never repeats. Scuba is included, and kids 10 and up can get certified on property. Treasure Beach Village, the newest addition, opened in spring 2026 as a higher-end, quieter village with larger suites and a price tag to match. I loved the Oceanfront Butler Suite and never wanted to go home!
Why it may not be a good fit
It is expensive, and the gap over Negril is not subtle. The expansive resort size cuts both ways too: five villages means real walking, and hauling a stroller from your room to dinner is a genuine expedition. Also, Turks & Caicos has fewer flights and connecting cities than Jamaica, which typically means higher fares.
If you are worried about too much walking, check out the Italian Village. It is close to the main pool, water park, and several restaurants.
For kids too young for the big water park, the brand new Treasure Beach village is my top recommendation. It just opened in March 2026 and is stunning. The pool is the star – it’s huge, overlooks the ocean, and has separate pool and splash pad that is perfect for toddlers. And of course there is a swim-up bar for the parents.
Book it if –Â you want the newest, luxury experience; your kids are roughly 6 to 15 and you want the water park to be the main attraction, or you have eight-plus people who need four bedrooms under one roof.
Beaches Negril
The smaller sibling, about 210 rooms on Jamaica’s Seven Mile Beach, and I think it is underrated. Fewer restaurants, a smaller water park, and a noticeably slower pulse.
Why we love it
Value, first. It typically runs well under Turks & Caicos for a comparable room and week, and that gap can be the difference between four nights and seven. It is also small enough to walk end to end in a few minutes, which sounds trivial until you are doing nap-time round trips with a toddler, or your nine-year-old wants to go back to the room for goggles.
The smaller guest count is a real perk. Shorter lines at the water park, a better shot at the restaurant you want without planning your day around it, and the staff greet your kids by name around day three.
The beach is the best on Jamaica. This stretch of Seven Mile Beach has soft sand and a gentle slope into the water, so the shallow zone runs out a good distance. It also faces west, which means sunset happens directly in front of you. I love watching the kids play in the water, drink in hand, while the beautiful Caribbean sun goes down 😎.
Getting there is easier too. Montego Bay has more nonstops from US cities so airfare tends to come in under Providenciales in Turks & Caicos. Budget roughly 90 minutes for the drive from the airport, which is the trade-off.
And the inclusions carry over intact: Kids Camp, Sesame Street programming, water sports, scuba.
Why it may not be a good fit
The water park is smaller, and if your kids came for slides they will notice within about ten minutes. Fewer restaurants also means more repetition on a long stay.

Book it if –Â you want the Beaches experience without the Turks & Caicos premium, or you would rather see the whole resort from one spot on the beach. There are also many flights to Montego Bay (MBJ) which is the best airport for Beaches Negril. The competition means cheaper air fares.
New Beaches resorts are coming!
Sandals Resorts International announced a plan that roughly doubles the Beaches footprint. None of these take bookings today, and Caribbean construction dates slip constantly, so hold every timeline loosely.
Beaches Barbados is the big one: 600 rooms on the old Almond Beach Village site in St. Peter, with a “Main Street” of restaurants and shops, an arcade, and four-bedroom suites pushing 3,000 square feet. Ground broke in late 2025 with a target somewhere in late 2027 to 2028.Â
Beaches Exuma converts the former Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas, on roughly 500 acres, with access to the Greg Norman golf course. Targeted for 2027.
Beaches Runaway Bay brings the brand back to Jamaica’s north coast and fills the hole Ocho Rios left. Details are still trickling out.
Beaches Negril is also getting an expansion as part of the same plan.

Both include meals, drinks, tips, land and water sports, airport transfers, and entertainment. Neither includes spa treatments, off-property excursions, or photo packages.
Can kids ever stay at a Sandals resort?
No, and the question comes in a few specific flavors, so let me take them one at a time.
Teenagers, including 16 and 17 year olds. No. The line is 18, and it does not bend.
An infant who will not bother anyone. Also no, and I promise you are not the first person to ask 😉.
A day pass while staying somewhere nearby. Where day passes exist, they carry the same 18+ rule.
A wedding with couples or guests who have children. This is the version that comes up most, and it is the one worth planning around early. Sandals hosts a lot of destination weddings, so couples with kids run into it constantly. Sandals does offer wedding passes for guests not staying on property, but it is for adults only.
You can request approval from the General Manager for kids to attend only the ceremony at Sandals, but if you want the kids to stay with you, stick to Beaches.
So which Beaches resort should you book?
Kids under 5, first Caribbean trip. Negril. Smaller, simpler, cheaper, and the water park will still look enormous to a four-year-old.
Kids 6 to 12. Turks & Caicos. Pirates Island is the whole differentiator and this is the age where it matters most.
Teenagers. Turks & Caicos, for the restaurant variety, the teen club, and large space to roam.
Multi-generational, eight or more people. Turks & Caicos four-bedroom villas. Negril simply does not have the room mix.
Budget is the deciding factor. Negril, booked four to six months out, in the shoulder windows of late April through early June or September into early November.

18. There is no exception for older teens.
There is no Sandals on Turks & Caicos, so this only applies to Negril. Technically no, Beaches guests do not get access to Sandals.
The other way is allowed. Sandals Negril guests can visit Beaches but you must travel on your own. It's a 5 minute taxi ride or a 20 minute walk on the beach.
